It started when the Emperor Gotoba-In invited Norimune to the palace rounds to forge swords.Norimune’s lien is called the Old Ichimonji.
Later, other famous smiths such as Yoshifusa, Sukezane, and Norifusa started producing together and they came to be called the Fukuoka Ichimonji.
The particular style of blade produced by the founder of the Ichimonji school, Norimune can be seen in the nobility of the curvature of his blades, the fineness of his jigane, in the faint utsuri and in the loveliness of his choji pattern or double clover pattern. The Ichimonji school created and developed the various designs of their choji .
